Strength based practice in social work practice focuses on people’s strengths, as opposed to their deficits. It involves working in partnership with the adult, as opposed to ‘doing to or for’. It is also associated with ‘resilience’, which is the capacity for people to develop and grow in the face of challenges. For more information, see Strengths-based social work: practice framework and handbook (DHSC)
